Running W Egg Farm

Convenience stores, grocery stores, hotels and restaurants on Vancouver Island enjoy the fresh eggs supplied by Running W Egg Farm and Farmer Ben’s Eggs.

Located in Duncan and established in 1981, the companies are run by the Woike family and have become synonymous with high quality products and exceptional customer service. Ian joined his dad, Ben, in the family operation in 1992. In 1999, Ian and his wife, Jennifer, took over the daily management, which includes a 44,000 bird layer flock, a wholesale egg grading company, an on-farm egg market, a Black Angus cross cow-calf operation and a hay farm.

Agriculture is important to the Woikes and they use opportunities such as classroom speaking, farm tours and their website (www.farmerbenseggs.ca) to promote the industry. Ian and Jennifer strive to maintain a marketing edge to keep ahead of the competition and, as a result of their efforts, they earned the 2009 BC Outstanding Young Farmer Award.
